Raids under ‘Mission Fateh’ at checking hoarding, black marketing, and profiteering of these essential items

JALANDHAR: On the directions of the Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Ghanshyam Thori the Health department along with the Food and Civil Supplies department, Police and Legal Metrology department today conducted raids at various medical shops across the district under ‘Mission Fateh’ to keep a tab over the overpricing and black marketing of the masks and sanitizers.

Team led by Drug Inspector Rupinder Kaur carried out these raids in the various shops of the district. She said that all surgical and protective masks and hand sanitizers have been declared as essential commodities under the Essential Commodities Act 1955 to ensure availability of these items at the correct price in wake of the Corona Virus. The drug Inspector said that masks consisting 2ply, 3ply surgical masks and N95 masks and hand sanitizers have been put in the list of essential commodities.

Rupinder Kaur said that these raids have been conducted to check the black markeeting and overpricing of the masks and the sanitizers in the district.
