CHANDIGARH, Punjab—Claiming innocence in missing 267 holy saroops of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, former SGPC employee Kanwaljit Singh has approached Amritsar Police Commissioner Sukhchain Singh Gill seeking probe after which an inquiry has been marked to the Deputy Commissioner of Police.
Interacting with media, Kanwaljit Singh alleged that the SGPC officials were mentally harassing him despite possessing whole record. He apprehended that the SGPC officials might tamper the record to hold him responsible for the missing 267 saroops of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
He reiterated that he issued saroops to several influential persons on the directions of SGPC officials without making any entry but now the SGPC is making him scapegoat to hush up the issue.
“I am ready to pay Rs 5.6 lakh ‘bheta’ against the missing saroops, but those responsible for it should be taken to task. On numerous occasions, the SGPC officials got saroops dispatched without updating the records. They should be held responsible,” he said.
He reclaimed that 80 saroops were damaged due to short-circuit on May 19, 2016 at Gurdwara Ramsar Sahib.
